i used this picture for an english projest. The classic book The Odyssey by Homer. There is a section about an island full of people who eat nothing but the lotus plant.
Posted by Luke McGuire at 9:42 PM EST on Dec 3rd, '03

I used it as a background:http://www.dipika.org/2004/02/20/11_sr_bhaktisiddhanta_app/index.html

Are lotuses good to eat? In China they eat the root as a vegetable. In India they fry the seed pods and eat them as a delicacy.

I am going to use this image, or a modification of it, in the logo for our missions team, which is going to Indonesia this Summer. The Lotus is significant to the town of Palembang, where we will be working at a youth camp on the island of Sumatra.

Your exquisite lotus photo helped inspire my Heart-Soul Living website at www.heart-soul-living.com. As Jack Kornfield wrote, "The heart awakens as a lotus opens: Its natural beauty and scent both fill itself and perfume the garden around it." Thanks for your generosity in sharing your photos so freely...helping so many of us as we in turn share our beauty and scent with others in our own ways, just as you have. Thanks for the inspiration.

The Lotus grows and blossoms, using her environment as a nutrient, even in death her passing is graceful, she understands the law of cycles....when to be still....when to bloom... a beautiful reminder to live our lives accordingly
