Hurricane Isabel - 2003-10-17
This close-up view of Hurricane Isabel was taken by one of the Expedition 7 crewmembers onboard the International Space Station. In addition to the station's cameras, NASA satellites provided imagery of the storm, as it approached the eastern seaboard of the United States.

Hi I just wanted to say that I lived through Hurricane Isabel. It lasted 22 hours and the eye passed right through the town I live in. It was one of the most scariest times of my life so far. Everything here in VA was closed and power was out for almost 2 weeks after. There was no water and no frozen foods at the stores. Everyone had to eat boxed foods. And I saw windows blown out of buildings and loads of trees down all over the roads. The day before the hurricane came there was shelters opened and on the news they told everyone they had to leave their homes. Of course my family didn't leave since we had a dog and didn't want to leave him. It took 2 hours for the eye of the storm to pass and then the back end of the hurricane was the worst. I thought the windows on our house was going to be blown out and that the roof was going to be ripped off. Anyway I just thought I would share this story. And thanks for the picture this is the first time I have actually seen what it looked like since our TV went out the night before the storm got here.
